[It feels like it's been forever since they did this. They used to come here all the time when they were kids- meeting up on their own little island and playing games, having competitions, and even a few sleepovers once they were old enough to row out on their own. And sure, it's definitely changed as they've started growing up, and after everything that happened- but there's a part of this island in particular that stays just the way it is for him. So many of his favorite memories are here, and so much of their history.
All three of them had worked so hard to make their way back here, together, and it feels like they'd barely been home at all when that bottle turned up on shore. If they really are about to set off on another adventure, then for now he'll take what he can get. Besides, Selphie said they were going to have a party back on the mainland and he knows what that means. If she catches sight of him, he'll be roped into helping the guys carry and hang stuff before he knows it.
The sun is a long way from going down, from sunsets hazy pinks and oranges, and Sora knows the hottest part of the day is over- but it sure doesn't feel like it. He glances at his phone one more time and finds no messages waiting to be read. That can only mean one thing. So much for squeezing in another nap! When Sora opens his eyes again it's because the shade he's been spread out underneath has gotten... shadier. It makes his brows come together in the middle and slowly, slowly, Sora peeks out at the world. Because of the hour there's plenty of glare that can't be seen through- but even so, there's more than enough left for start filling in the details. The mussed curtain of Riku's hair. The broad shape of his shoulders.
Sora smiles. They've had the same favorite spots since they were kids; count on Riku to know just where to look. His phone stays on his belly in the same way that Sora stays sprawled out on his back. Instead of a hello to you too Riku or a took you long enough, they fall right into the same conversation without missing a beat.]

You know, like the opposite of an old friend.
A friend you haven't made yet.
